- Ride at a relaxed pace. The water bike travels at approximately walking speed and is designed for relaxed cruising, not exercise or high-speed riding. Pedal smoothly and steadily
- Use small steering movements. A water bike does not steer like a regular bicycle. Steering on the water is sensitive, so make small, controlled movements and give the bike time to respond.
- Never turn the handlebar more than 45 degrees in either direction. Turning further will not make the water bike turn more sharply and may damage the steering system. Always follow the 45-degree markings on the water bike.
- Stay seated upright and centred. Keep your weight evenly distributed to maintain stability and keep the propeller properly submerged.
- Never stand on the pedals. If you need to stand briefly, place one foot on each pontoon and distribute your weight evenly.
- To reverse, pedal slowly backwards. Remember that the water bike does not steer backwards in the same way as a regular bicycle.
- Be aware of wind, waves and passing boats. These can affect your direction and balance. If a passing boat creates waves, remain calm and balanced and allow your body to move gently with the motion of the water.
- Keep a safe distance at all times. Stay clear of boats, canal walls, bridges and other people using the canal.
- Stay within the designated route. The water bike may only be used within the designated route in the Malmö canals. Leaving the canal or riding towards the open sea is strictly prohibited.
- Avoid seaweed and aquatic vegetation. Do not ride through areas with floating seaweed, grass or other aquatic plants, as they can become tangled in the propeller and affect the water bike's performance.
